. welcome to World Food & Drinks .

Having worked in major MNCs for over a period of 26+ years across 2 continents, an urge to do something we enjoy and is more of a passion than a job, led to the beginning of a new journey. Two professionals Puneet Thaman and Sam with their very different academic backgrounds, professional experience but a common vision joined hands to create “World Food & Drinks Limited”.

With the ever-growing Asian diaspora and increasing net immigration, we identified that in future there will be significant opportunity to meet the demands with brand the consumer can identify and relate to. The product quality, they will expect to buy in the UK and Europe of “desi” products irrespective of restrictions.

  • Dr. Nature brand launched in the UK and EU
  • Premium 1121 basmati rice which was still in very early stages of acceptance in the UK
  • Exclusive distributorship of Elite brand taken for the UK/EU market targeting the South Indian community

  • Dr. Nature brand extended into health segment with “Herbal Juices, powders”
  • Dr. Nature herbal juices very well accepted by consumers and ever since a permanent product in the profolio

  • Dr. Nature extended into flour segment with “makki atta” targeting Punjabis of the UK. A regional favourite.
  • Dr. Nature Makki Atta became an instant consumer favourite and has since been an unofficially the best makki atta brand in the UK.

  • SGR 777 brand from South India added to portfolio as exclusive distributor for the UK
  • Bikaji Namkeen distributorship added
  • Dr. Nature Mango Pulp launched in the UK
  • Godrej consumer (fmcg) added to portfolio as exclusive distributor for the UK

  • With a strong response to Dr. Nature in the premium and healthy segment, new brand “Mehar launched targeting value segment
  • Mehar brand launched in 3 different categories; pooja items, fryms and candies/digestives
  • All 3 categories got immense support of consumer and became instant favourite as pooja items often an overlooked category for a strong India population, fryms a popular snacking item. Candies and digestives were targeted with nostalgia and very Indian taste buds of childhood

  • Dr. Nature flour range extended with the launch of speciality flours: dosa, idli, upma mixes
  • Mehar brand extended into bakery lines with launch of rusk, cookies and biscuits
  • Alishaan rice distributorship taken for the UK market
  • WFD appointed exclusive distributor for BC namkeen in the UK. A 100 year old Indian snacking brand.

In 2022, the business went through restructuring or shall we say rethinking process. The key question we asked ourselves was

“Where are we today and where we want to reach?”

And the answers led to a strategic thinking which carved the way for road ahead…

Reflecting upon 6 years of existence, we realised in order to grow into a profitable and sustainable business we need to develop something which will hold ground for long and most importantly can be moulded into our vision. Trading of branded items whilst is the easy way, will not take us near to the vision we have set for the company and ourselves.

Therefore, we decided to focus strongly on developing Dr. Nature and Mehar brands. In this process we took decisions, which we knew will hurt us and the business in short run and may be unpopular. But success demands sacrifice, and the founders were up for it.

  • Retained only Bambino and BC Namkeen exclusive distributorship for the UK
  • Launched lentils under Dr. Nature brand in 1kg retail packs against the market norms of 2kg
  • Launched “Ready to Eat (RTE)” curried in Mehar brand in 11 sku’s
  • Launched soya chaap under Dr. Nature brand adding more to the North Indian tastebuds!
  • Dr. Nature mustard oil and phool makhana launched
  • Launched South Indian flour range to strengthen Dr. Nature brand in the speciality flour category
  • Launched “3 types of petha” Indian sweets range under Mehar brand
  • Launched faluda drink in 4 varieties from Thailand under Mehar brand

  • Dr. Nature multigrain atta (10 grains) launched in the UK
  • Dr. Nature chakki atta launched in 1kg small retail pack
  • South Indian category strengthened with the launch of Dr. Nature gingelly oil (Sesame oil), Tamarind and Appalam
  • Sweets range extended with the launch of Mehar besan ladoo and soan papdi
